COOKIES
Cookies & local storage
Browser storage supports sign-in, location, offline reading and installation preferences.
What we store
Session: access and refresh tokens plus your account profile, in your browser's localStorage under wtg-session. Strictly necessary — without it you could not stay signed in. Removed when you sign out.
Session storage (not cookies): two small keys in sessionStorage — wtg-location (your last detected position, so nearby water and your safety session survive a page refresh) and wtg-location-asked (so we only ask for location permission once per visit). Both vanish when you close the tab.
Offline copies: IndexedDB wtg-offline, service-worker caches and wtg-cache-ts keep selected pages/data and the last cache timestamp. They persist until cleared; they are not live forecasts or offline map tiles.
Installation preferences: wtg-visit-n and wtg-install-dismissed remember visits and install-prompt dismissal. Clear site data to remove all stored copies and preferences.
What we do not use
No advertising or analytics integration is included in this release. Third-party maps, imagery and external handoffs have their own privacy terms. Storage necessity and consent requirements must be reviewed before general release.
